Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on February 12th

We hope you'll join us on Saturday, February 12th from 8-10a at Applebee's in DeWitt for a Flapjack Fundraiser event.  We'll be selling tickets in advance for $5/person ($2 for kids under age 2).  We ask that you help spread the word and invite all of your friends and family to come out for breakfast and support BMW.  $4 of every $5 ticket sold goes back to the school!  That's 80%!

So mark your calendars and save the date!  Tickets will be available in the office.

Paint-a-plate for our Spring Fundraiser

Plates will be available to eat on and take home during our annual spring semester fundraiser, on Saturday, April 2nd from 5:00-7:00pm.

A 7 1/2 inch plate will be ordered for each BMW student to paint during the school day. You can also order additional plates for siblings/family members to paint on a first come/first serve basis.  These make very special keepsakes or gifts.

Plates will be painted at BMW on Wed 12/8, Th 12/9 & Fri 12/10 during the school day.  Every student will glaze one plate during these three days.

Two additional afternoon painting sessions are scheduled for Thursday 1/6  & Friday 1/7  from 3:30-4:30.  This is a good time to bring older siblings who'd like to make a plate.  You will need to attend one of these sessions if your order more than one plate.  If these times are not convenient for you, please contact me to make arrangments.

Plates will be fired at SU’s School of Visual and Performing Arts.

Plates will be sold for $10.  Price of each plate includes glaze as well as a donation to the BMW Parent Board.  Check your child's mailbox for an order form or download under "Fundraising Links."  Orders are due by Fri. Dec. 3rd.  Checks can be made payable to the "BMW Parent Board."

*We would like ALL BMW students to be able to paint one plate.  Please let Daria or Lisa know if you are unable to afford $10 for a plate at this time.

Recycling Fundraiser Update

I am going to be shipping the contents of the "Recycling Fundraiser" bin on Friday.  If you have anything you've been meaning to drop in the bin, try and remember to bring it in on Thursday or Friday morning.  Here is the list of acceptable items:

Catalog Orders are IN!

The "For Small Hands" Catalog orders are ready for pick-up in the office.  Stop in and grab yours on your way in or out this week.  There were a few backordered items which we indicated on the order forms.  Backordered items will ship soon and we'll contact you when they arrive.  Thanks to all of you who placed orders--the teachers are sooo excited to use their merchandise credit for the school!

Remember that individual orders can still be placed and orders of $25 or more will give 10% back to the school.  You just need to put in the school's information.  (See the October posting for info)

You Can Still Get A BMW T-Shirt!

We have 7 short sleeve t-shirts in an adult size large and we have 7 short-sleeve shirts in size 4T.  The cost is $12 each.  They are available in the office.

Order a "Cheesecake Factory" Cheesecake at B&N

Need a dessert for an upcoming holiday party?  Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes are available at the Barnes and Noble Cafe in 4 varieties: Original, Double Chocolate Godiva, White Chocolate Raspberry and Pumpkin.  Each cheesecake ordered through our school, will count towards the total sales at our upcoming bookfair.  If you'd like to order one, print out an order form under the "Fundraising Links" to the right and turn it in to the office by December 6th.  Your cheesecake will be ready for pick-up the week of the bookfair.  They can also be ordered and paid for at the store DURING the bookfair if you'd rather wait. All Barnes and Noble Cafe sales made with a voucher will count toward our bookfair total.

Barnes and Noble Bookfair Information

Bookfair vouchers can be downloaded by clicking on the link to the right. Vouchers can be used both in-store and online from 12/13-12/19.  Please email vouchers to family and friends!  BMW will earn up to 20% back to spend on books and resources for the school.

If you missed the "For Small Hands" Group Order...

You — and everyone you know — can place Individual Orders for 10% credit until December 31, 2010. Every Individual Order for credit must total $25 or more (in merchandise), must be placed before December 31, and must include our complete school information (below). A Big Success!

Thanks to ALL of the participants, our "For Small Hands" catalog order total exceeded $1700!!!  That means BMW teachers will earn a $260 merchandise credit to spend on resources for the school.  That is awesome!    A special thanks to all of you who reached out to friends and family and collected additional orders for the school.  You went above and beyond!

Our order will arrive at the school within the next couple of weeks.  They are providing us with bags to divide up the orders.  We may need a couple of volunteers to help sort through and pack up all the the items.  We'll keep you posted.

Diaper Drive CNY

Bernice Wright is partnering with Diaper Drive CNY for a Diaper Drive.  Please help by donating disposable diapers.  These diapers will go to help local families here in CNY put clean diapers on their children.

WHAT: Any open or closed bags/boxes of disposable diapers.  Also unopened cans of formula, wipes and creams.

"For Small Hands" Orders Due FRIDAY

We haven't received very many orders so far but we are closing in on $400 total.  We need to make it to $500 to qualify for FREE SHIPPING, so please get those orders in this week.  The catalog's deadline is FRIDAY.   Orders received later will not qualify.  Also, the larger our group order, the more money BMW teachers will have to spend on resources and materials for the school.  Lisa has extra catalogs and order forms in the office if needed.  You also have the option to shop the website and print out the order form. 

Orders come back to Lisa with cash or check (payable to "BMW Parent Board").  Any questions, feel free to contact me.

Final Call! Buy a T-Shirt!

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the BMW t-shirt fundraiser!  So far, we have sold 75 shirts.  If we can sell just 25 more, we can reduce our cost per shirt and BMW will earn a significantly larger profit from the fundraiser.

Last year, we sold 75 shirts. After the initial sale, we had people who missed out on the fundraiser ask us to make them available again. We did, and sold 25 more. Unfortunately, since we weren't able to buy them all at once and get a lower cost per shirt, they cost us more and we were unable to return a higher profit to BMW.

This is one of the few fundraisers we'll be doing this year and what better way to show support for BMW (and SU) than by purchasing a t-shirt?  Please consider placing an order and helping us get to 100 shirts!

If you haven't checked your child's mailbox, you may not have seen that Lisa distributed the "For Small Hands" catalogs along with an order form.  Remember, orders are due with payment (cash or check to "Bernice Wright Parent Board" by Friday, October 22nd.  This is the catalog's deadline for "FREE SHIPPING."

Please pass along to friends and family who may also like to take advantage of our "Free Shipping" offer.  Remember, if our group order is > $500, BMW teachers will earn 15% in a merchandise credit and we earn "Free Shipping."

Barnes and Noble Book Fair Begins Dec. 13th

This year's Barnes and Noble Book Fair will kick-off on the first day of winter break, Monday December 13th at 10:00 am.  We will have crafts and a parent-lead storytime.

Bookfair Vouchers will be placed in your child's mailbox as well as sent via email.  When a voucher is presented at any Barnes and Noble checkout, a percentage of that sale (up to 20%) will go to BMW in the form of a gift card.  The teachers then use the "Educator's Discount" combined with the gift card to purchase books and other materials for the school.

Vouchers can be presented anytime during Dec. 13th-19th at ANY Barnes and Noble store and credit will be given to BMW. This means, you can forward the vouchers to friends and family anywhere and they too can help our school.

The bookfair comes at the perfect time for holiday shopping, so make a list for Barnes and Noble and be sure to do your shopping the week of the 13th!

"For Small Hands" Catalog Fundraiser

For those of you not familiar with "For Small Hands" catalog, it is a Montessori company that offers a  "unique selection of open-ended activities for children that encourage discovery and growth of imagination.  Their specialty has always been to provide real, child-size tools to enable young children to have successful experiences learning how to care for themselves and their environment. They also carry a wide range of books and educational materials, as well as fun, family activities."

During the fall, they have a promotion where a percentage of a school's sales is given back to the school in the form of a merchandise credit.  Last year, individuals submitted orders online for BMW and the teachers earned some money to spend on resources and materials for the school.

This year, we have decided to take advantage of the "Group Order" option.  If our group order is greater than $500, we'll earn FREE SHIPPING and 15% back for the BMW teachers to spend.  We have around 50 families at BMW, so if everyone placed just a $10 order, we'd reach the $500 mark.  This is a great opportunity to do a little early holiday shopping.  You can also share the catalog/website with friends and family and they can benefit from our FREE SHIPPING offer while helping out our school as well!  Group orders must be submitted by OCTOBER 23rd in order to qualify for FREE SHIPPING. 

To participate in the group order, use the family group order form that will soon be placed in your child's mailbox, or download it here and submit it to Lisa by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22nd.  Payments must be in the form of a check/M.O. or cash.  (Payable to: "Bernice Wright Parent Board")  Orders will be shipped to your home address.

The Bernice Wright Parent Board is conducting a recycling fundraiser. There’s nothing to buy. We are simply asking you to protect the environment by donating your used consumer electronics and unwanted, broken or mismatched jewelry. Your used item(s) may be tax deductible and will be recycled in accordance with EPA regulations. 100% of the proceeds will help fund BMW.
